So the engine is semi built but I have an issue with the crank thrust i.e. it moves a bit even when fully tightened. Does anyone know what needs doing or if there is a bronze thrust bushing that can be bought?

That movement is eliminated when you fit the crankshaft pulley
With the crank-nut fully tightened to its correct torque (149Nm), and ALL the end-of-crank parts in place, you should have between 10 and 12thou clearance between the shoulder of the crank (timing-chain end) and the thrust side of the timing-chain-end crankshaft bearing. Don't forget---the washer that goes up against the crankshaft has the little shamfer FACING the crank, and the washer with the 'piston-ring' seal has the GROOVED side towards the crank. Fit it the wrong way round (i.e. the smooth side towards the crank) and you won't get oil-pressure to the crank.
