First U have to remove the door card.
After removing the door card, lower the window down and remove the seal (circled red). The seal is the problem.

1: heat up the seal end plastic whit a lighter (dont burn it), and press it together

This makes the seal ends grip the door once again, so it doesent move around
2: bend the seals lip in the direction of the arrow a couple of times and then clean it
5a.jpg

3: get a hot glue gun and pour the glue between the plastic ant the lip

4: let it cool down, and again put on the door of the car
Now the window will stop to rattle.

Hope it helps

Check the seals around the window also, take off the sliding 1 and check if the other (the 1 that is also a door seal) is in the seats. Sometime it slides out.

Definiteley trying thi at the weekend. Window rattle is soooooooo annoying.

Cheers for the info.

An easier way is to make sure all the little metal clips are clipped on.

@Tom - when U are saying metal clips, what do U mean

sven

There should be approx 6-8 metal clips that hold the seal (pictured above) on firmly...

Mine rattle a tiny bit, but i think thats because the clips are not evenly spaced.

But saying that, its a good write up and i will probably do the same :)

Daz

Thanks for the respond Daz, but Im sure I aint got them :(
The seal is complete plastic whit teeth, so I think they removed the metal and went for the plastic.

Cheers

sven

Sounds like they have...you can't really miss them as when you remove the seal they all slide off the end...

I will be doing mine on the weekend, so i will take a pic so you can see what i mean.

Daz

Im doing it to the other door today, so I will have a look. Maybe the former owner did something, or my mk2 here in EU has a different type.

sven

PS- go easy on the hot glue, to much will produce too much rubbing of the window on the seal, and it will start to whine.

Just got the other door card down, and I dont have metal clips. I have bumps (convex parts on the door tin) ant a teeth in the plastic seal.

Any chance you can fix the broken image in the first post?

A picture tells a thousand words and i'm worried I missed a bit in the process.

The pic was just the end of the seal, and nothing more. It was the same like the 1 under it, just no ”calipers” (dont know the eng. word)
What do U think U missed?

sven

There should be metal clips in the large squarish section of the seal that hold the top of the door card in place.

@Tom - I must say: No i dont. The door card is also convex parts on it. The door card goes in the upper U grip, and the door tin goes in the lover U grip. Both have convex parts on them

sven

Yes I can, and I have seen them on my mates tipo, dads croma and on my old delta, but I don have them.
Maybe this will help.
This is schematic pic. of the convex parts that hold my door card and seal.
The upper 1 is on the door cards and slides in the upper U grip in the previous pic.
The lower 1 is on the door of the car and the seal slides on it whit the second U grip in the prev. pic

They must have changed it so the window rattle drowns out the nasty diesel engine sound ;)
