Getting my rear arch sorted - advice please

Since i put new tyres on the bravo jtd (17" wheels) the rear driver wheel has been catching the inner lip of the rear arch when i have a little bit of weight in the back. Anyways had the rear shocks changed a little while back and it still catches.

Annnyyyway.....

Ive got her booked in at a body shop on monday to get it sorted as im off camping next weekend and need it not to catch.

I thought it would just be a case of grinding off a bit of the lip then sealing it with something to prevent rust. The guy at the garage siad that would weaken the panel and suggested 'tapping' the lip up.

He also said that that may cause paint on the panel to crack and that would innevitably need sorting at the same time.

This is the first time ive used these guys and was wondering if that sounded about right?

Thanks

Stu

He's right about what he's saying. Best way is to turn them up, in the process paint may crack. However i had 17's on my Bravo and fully loaded with 4 people it doesn't catch. It caught on the front once but that was because the arch liner wasn't clipped back in properly. But readjusted and now its perfect.

I would of first suggested your shocks are knackered if its catching but it could be the wrong offset on the alloys. What are the specs of the alloys you've got fitted since you've replaced the shocks?

yer as above, ive got 17's on mine and mine dont catch.even with a heavy mate in the back,Only time it catches is when i go over a speed bump, but thats only on the rear splitter/kit.

Well its alway annoyed me, ive had a 1.4 with 17s on which never caught but it does on the jtd.

The car has had new rear shockers and now has had the arch turned - WHICH i may add has done absolutely nothing (will have to go back to garage tom morn)

The whel started catching when i got the tyres replaced BUT the tyre is exactly the same spec but just a dfferent make!

Do you reckon the tyre could be so much wider that it catches all the time?? On my recent trip to the lakes it sounded like a blooming dog was barking all the way there when it caught!! Highly frustrating

my mate had this on his clio, he tyres neva rubed then he got new and both back ones did

As i asked before Stu, what spec are the alloys and what brand tyres and size do you have fitted.

Is it just the back thats rubbing? Have you checked for signs of scrubbing?
