hi all,
just cant leave things alone can i , :D sorry tipomike!!!
well ive just bought a 1.6 hf lump for the "" little green monster"", (well it will be).......And wanted some advice or trouble spot to watch for,
will it be a straight forward swap or am i gonna have to do lots of work,
im fairly Knowledgable on most things but i aint done a Tipo swap before,!!
can i use my 1.4 hubs with hf driveshafts??
will the injection prove to be a hassle wiring up as my Tipo is non injected??

Any usefull view points would be greatly appreciated.... (y)

Oh Dear!!

As you can imagine I think you should leave it alone. You could be right about the wiring but also I leave you with 2 other things to think about...

1) - What about uprating everything else - brakes and suspension?

2) - cheaper and less hassle to buy a 5 door Sedici!

Cheers MIKE

PS - If anyone is interested my Sedici 5door will be on display at the NEC next week all being well - on the Fiat Motor club stand

My Tipo had an HF turbo engine. But I upgraded it to a 2L by just swapping the block for a Croma turbo item.

Since Deltas and a Tipos are totally different the engine will not fit in at all. Nothing will work. You basically need a Tipo/tempra/dedra etc that originally had a twincam engine to get all the parts you need.. You need the twin cam engine mounts, gearbox, hubs, shafts, brakes etc etc. If your Tipo was a twin cam to start with it would be a very simple job.

My car still has the HF turbo gearbox, but it needed to be rebuilt with the Tipo endplate which has the right front trans mount for a Tipo. This is about the only SOHC Tipo part that is useable. Its only the same if the HF turbo gearbox is 1988+

Thank You Steve ,Very Informative, i took a bit of time to read your article and sounds like you done a lot of work on the old gal, all good work too i have to say,
there coupe clocks in the tipo aint they?? looks spot on!!! As do coupe wheels, what kind of BHP was the car producing on full boost?

Tipo SX clocks and turbo diesel gauges.

Well I have a few boost problems so I can only run 10psi boost at the moment. It makes 136kw at the wheels which is somewhere around 215BHP. Thats with 10psi boost. 16psi boost is "full boost" and it should make around 240-250BHP like that.
