General Problem or just me??

Quite a few times now when i've been nailing the car i can throw the wheel where i wanna be pointing and the front end responds perfectly the only problem is the back end tends to slide out, i have brand new tyres all round, no mods and i did it this morning on the estate at work, The front end always grips superbly and has never slipt on me once but the back lets it down is this just my car??? or am i just purely expecting to much from it?

That doesnt sound right at all. I have to really twitch my HGT to get the back to loose before the front does. Check your springs and dampers and that your tyre pressures are correct. Also check that the tyre fitters have the tyres on the right way round - it has been known!

Lasty....drive slower....ah on second thoughts scrap that!

Had new dampers fitted all round last august as well as springs, Tyres are on the right way at least the writing is on the outside!?!?!? pressures are ok!

I have a 1.2 and it slides everywhere. There's no weight to the car at all and can really go wild when taking corners/roundabouts at speed. Thats probably why I love it so much though. Makes driving much more fun.

Sounds like something is too stiff or too soft. Make of dampers, make and lowering of springs and size of wheels? Also which bravo is it?

Its the old stiff / soft thing.

My girlfriend always complains of the same thing... lol!

(Other than that, I don't know. My 100SX tends to slide a bit in the wet but I think thats down to the tyres)

I had this prob on mine a while back. What tyres have you had fitted? I had uniroyals on the front and a budget pair on the back. (!dumbass!) Only had the uni's on for a couple weeks with a view to replacing the rears, but then i spun it off a roundabout in the wet and crunched 2 of my wheels. The wheels were only 14" with thin tyres, i was always suspect of them cos the car understeared easily, this was better with the uni's but then i lost the back completely Ah well, was an excuse to get me 17's with yoko's (anyone find these brilliant in the dry but questionable in the wet) and it handles like a different car.

Mine are pirelli P5000's. They grip a fair bit but can slide like hell now and again. I put it down to a light car going too quick

i fitted Nankang sport NS-1 (205/40/17). with the car lowerd by 35mm it hold the road very well in the wet, even when pushed at roundabouts.

I've got 14" A539 on the front and Michelin energys on the back and find it very neutral. When I had Mich's all round it was the beast from the planet understeer.

Cheap tyres are a waste of time, they are usually too hard and have dreadful water clearing abilities.

I find the A539s good in both wet and dry but you can feel them lift when you hit standing water.

i have michelins all round only had them about 3 months not sure of the type of tyre, all standards wheels suspension etc, how can i test if the bushes have gone or if something is to stiff or not as the case may often be

Hmm.. maybe you do have a shot rear shock. When mine went the car did get very unhappy. You would turn in and it would lean in and then lurch back. New shocks solved it.

If it was a bush you should hear some knocking.

Does it do it both left and right or just one?

Had all shocks and springs replaced last August, No knocking sound its a lot harder to get it to slip turning right but left handers are a nightmare!!! in fact there are no strange noises apart the the expected creaks of a fiat

What make shocks? Sounds like one is duff. Why did you have the springs changed if you didn't lower it? They don't wear out that fast.

Cos i was hit by a joy rider, ripper the front passenger side wheel off so new shocks and springs all round, if i had paid and not through insurance it would of been lowered, no idea what make as it was a insurance job i'm guessing just o/e ones

I had Avon tyres fitted to my bravo when i changed my alloys a month or so back and i can't recomend them enough, the car handles perfect i can drive as hard into corners as i live and spin round round a bouts at 45 and still keep grip on the road. they are just as good in the wet as well.

as soon as i have done the million other mods i wanna do i will lower it 20mil i think

It can't be if you are having these probs.

How are your spanner skills? Take both rear shocks off and push them down, they should have the same resistance. (I found you lean on one with each hand and just put your body weight on them is a good test) Then let them go at the same time and they should spring back with the same speed.

Its a bit hard to diagnose without actually driving the car.
