My brain just isn't working today. I'll probably forget when I get in the car and try and push it away from me or something :doh:Which is exactly what you do in the Panda![]()
The red zone in my Punto was about the same size on the gauge, I know in the Punto it comes on when there is 7litres left, not sure what it is in the Panda.Panda's have a massive red zone though - nearly a quarter of the tank. Parking on cambered roads makes a big difference between light on and off too.![]()
Think my petrol gauge is being a tad optimistic, drove about 15 miles on the red, put £10, about 8 litres, now I have just under half a tank...
I'm expecting it to suddenly drop next time I go out...
The gauge seems fairly accurate in terms of how quickly it goes down. Couldn't bring myself to brim the tank, cant make myself spend more than £20 at a time on petrol....All the Panda's are different - sone are quite accurate, some completely pointless.
If you don't mind a suggestion, you need to brim the tank, run it until the reserve light comes on permanently (not just when scraping the doors on the road through corners), then brim it again. By taking what you've put in away from the size of the tank, you know exactly what's left when the light comes on. In theory it will be about 6 litres (6dm3 or 1.3 gallons) but it's worth finding out (Chiaro has a faulty gauge and the light comes on after about 60 miles, so is showing empty most of the time!). You may well find you've got a good 1/4 tank left when it shows red.![]()

i still have panda camp fuel in my tank... it used just over half a tank getting to panda camp.. but on the way back it used just above half a tank.. wonder if that is because the gear ratio has changed with the bigger wheels...?
