Technical Gearshift goes hard

HI,I´m noticing it´s getting hard to change any gear on my FIAT DUCATO 2.5 TDI (1997) Engine 8140.47.
The engine goes fine but the changes of any gear are very hard to do ..Any idea of what can be happening? Thanks a lot for helping.

Which gears? Is it crunching between gears.

If you are lucky its the pivot on the gearbox is stiff. Dismantle it, clean the shaft with emery paper and clean the hole it goes through with wire wool grease it with waterproof grease when reassembling.

Early vans had problems with the windscreen scuttle dumping water on the gearbox with the result that water got into the gearbox. Make sure your scuttle is routed to avoid anything important.i

Its definitely worth checking the oil condition for water ingress and emulsification.

Also fiat put an extra 0.7l in some gearboxes due to ensure lubrication of 5th gear.

If its crunching between gears then an oil change may solve it but often the syncros are worn.
