Technical Gearbox Woes - Even Gears not selecting

Hi all,

This feels like a linkage problem rather than something more serious (he says with infinite hope).

The wife's car had started to struggle selecting reverse initially then last night refused to go into 2nd, 4th, or reverse. The odd gears are fine (for now).

Clutch engagement feels fine for the gears that are operational but before i get it trailered to the garage is there anything i can visually check?

Hi if clutch bites low on the floor this could be problem but does sound like linkage

Will it go into gears engine off without issue?
Last year our car decided no reverse too, eventually fixed itself but made parking interesting!

Update to this is now no gears are selectable. Went to try and get it home a short distance using only the odd gears but felt off when I put it in first. Put it back into neutral and got a surprise when the car jumped after I lifted the clutch.

So it’s currently stuck in 1st I think and the gearstick is just like stirring a buckets of lumpy nothing

I am still leaning towards a linkage break though, I’ll start there before worrying about release bearings etc.

Is there anywhere that I can look to see diagrams of the linkages? I’ll pop the gaiter off later and see what I can see but suspect access will be from below.
