Technical Gearbox issue

Hi. Looking for technical advice.

Recently purchased a 2009 500. love the car. I've notice that when in Auto, the change from 1 to 2 is laboured and it the engine will over rev until it engages. There is a delay, almost a second or two, before it changes up. What would cause this? Sensor problem? Does it need to go into the garage for investigation? Thank you. Thomas

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news. The automated gearbox in our wee Fiats has a poor reliability record and there are many posts in the forum from people who have had problems with them. They are not easy to repair either and a typical small, or even larger, garage will be unlikely to cope with it. You'll very likely need a fiat or gearbox specialist who knows them.

I have deliberately avoided ever buying one so have no practical experience of repairing them - Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can give further advice?
