Hello all,
I am struggling a bit with knowing what to do with my car. I have a 2012 500 pop 1.2L manual that has started to do weird things. It has 35k miles on it, i only bought it in September and haven’t driven much (i am a learner so can’t drive it alone). I drove an hour ish and it was fine. Slipping out of reverse sometimes but otherwise fine (i was told that is normal?). Then on the journey back when we were 5 minutes or so from home there was a moment where whilst i had the clutch down the car kept revving and moving and the brake pedal was not working i had to stop with the handbrake. Then it just would not go into gear at all and had to be pushed. After 30 mins of cooling down it drove again so we could park it somewhere safe.

After that, I had a mechanic come and look at it. He checked the hydraulics and fluids for leaks and everything as far as he could without taking it apart, even stress testing it a bit and the problem did not reproduce.

Everyone I have spoken to says sounds like the clutch but there was no smell or anything, just it not going into gear. I have it booked to be looked at but I am really not sure what to expect. I have been given some quotes that seem quite expensive to me (£500-£580) ish but again i am not very experienced and live in an expensive area. Any advice? I really don’t want to get ripped off and if it is actually not the clutch i dont want it to be unnecessarily replaced. Apologies if i have used the wrong terms or sound a bit confused!

Thank you!!
