2013 500, 1.2 pop.

Gearbox has failed and I am trying to get a recon one off ebay. Garage are happy to fit on the assurance that it's the correct box.

Are there variations across the range, or are they all the same..?

Bloomin thing started to play up (it was really hard to get into gear - I had to force it with both hands) and when I finally limped it to a garage it stuck in 5th on the ramp  Scuppered me travelling anywhere over xmas and my garage's regular supplier haven't got any boxes, hence why I've had to track one down.

It's also got a small water feature in the rear driver side footwell. I had this with my old Punto and it was a bunged up boot seal; any suggestions for the 500 on what and where to check?

Plenty of gearboxes on e- bay at between £250 & £495.
Before buying check delivery costs as this varies a lot !and check what warranty your getting! dont be afraid to message seller to discuss condition as you dont want to pay to fit it and find its a wrong un!.
Best to buy from a 500 specialist such as club 500 Italia with a good reputation if possible!

Oh doesn't it just, and you have to send the old unit back as well... never mind. I've got one arriving Tuesday so hopefully back on the road this week.

And yes, will get the clutch done at the same time too. Thanks guys.

Well this was a total mare. Do avoid MACC LTD in Birmingham, their "recon" boxes are anything but, and then when you return it for a refund it'll conveniently get lost....

The Gearbox Centre in Kent supplied a properly refurbished box though.

The leak, well the boot is bone dry and the rear washer jet is routed on the other side of the car, so I think it's just door seal. God knows what kind of job that is...

Have spent the day scrubbing mould out of the sodding car after it was sat for weeks. And now I have a failed instrument cluster to add to the list of jobs... Gah.
