I have a 57 plate 120 multi jet van with 180,000 miles, the diff has recently started to whine a bit and I refreshed the oil hoping that would quieten it down but it did not, however the bigger problem that has shown itself in the cold weather is that from cold first thing in the morning I struggle to select gears, particularly first, could this be gearbox or linkage ?

My second question is, my box is the 6 speed version, will an earlier 5 speed version fit ?, the reason I ask is that there are plenty of 5 speed at reasonable prices compared to 6 speed which are around £5-700 for a used box in my area

Hi, :)
worth lubricating the linkages you can see, (y)

the one think that's likely to effect the changes in COLD weather is the actual gearbox oil,
especially as it's improving as it warms. ;)

for @£500 you could probably get the box properly rebuilt.
