This morning and last night my 1.4SX 98 Bravo wouldn't select any gears and if reverse was selected it would grind enough to make you cry. Is it the cluch or the gearbox, up until yesterday I could hear the release bearing making noise but there is no noise now what so ever.

Re: Re: Gearbox or Cluch

Could be the clutch slave cyl. check your brake fluid level.

Other than that it will be the clutch.

Clutch

sounds like the bearing noise I was hearing, just got quoted 400 - 400 Euro for the clutch from FIAT, nice friendly people.

Re: Clutch

I've been having major gearbox/cluch problems.

It sounds like there is a rattling constantly from this area. I had the clutch replaced, however to no avail. The clutch still slips.

I've got a new gearbox sat in the garden waiting to be fitted. And instead of messing around trying to get my old gearbox fixed (if it's possible) I just went out and bought another and got a new clutch fitted (Well this new one will be under warranty) so all in all it's costed me around £350ish! Which isn't that bad for a new gearbox/clutch fitted I don't think!

Should last at least another 30k miles (lol)

Ian. :)
