Good evening everyone !!!

New to the forum, as of today. Thanks to admin for allowing me to join. I have recently bought an 2006 Ulysse with manual gearbox and have started having problems getting reverse - the gearstick knob was pretty battered so I bought a generic one, which with a few mods, fits ok. But although the reverse collar, which you lift to select reverse, rises, it is still hellish to find reverse. So much so that we have to consider where/how we park, just in case i cant get reverse. Is itnpossible that the cable has stretched and can possibly be adjusted ( either at the gearbox end or at he stick itself? Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks in advance. Regards, Simon

Hi, 🙂

does it change if HOT or COLD🤔

Try it with the Engine OFF😉

is this petrol or diesel..?
Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

It does it hot AND cold. Engine on AND off. It's a mechanical issue, maybe based around the cable attached to the collar.

I bought it a week ago, with a gear knob which fell off... bought a new (generic) one, doesn t fit too wel... but the issue is the liftable collar seems to travel well, up to its limit and pulls the cable with it, but still hard to get reverse. Being a cable, probab;y the original, I'm hoping that there is the opportunity to take up slack in the cable by adjustment at the gearbox end.... hopefully not internal, maybe on the side.. I'm not a mechanic, but want to make sure I don't get hoodwinked into spending more than I have to....

It's a 2.0L JTD

Thanks again..
