I've been clearing out some clutter from my garage and come across a Delta 1.6GT box that I must have been sitting on for 15 years.
I seem to recall that I put it away with the intention of using it on an Uno project that never happened. But I can't remember (I'm at a delicate age now!) what the hell I was going to use it for.
It's the bottom change type like a Mk1 Turbo but without doing a whole lot of digging and checking ratio's etc. I don't know who it would be of use to now.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Lol - this really gave me a chuckle, particularly the subject. I'm sure we both remember that FIAT gearboxes of the 70s and 80s were rarely delightful and usually full of surprises :)

Therefore a good-condition early-80s gearbox will be handy to have - will suit either an early Uno Turbo or a later Uno 70 from around 1988 - these also had the bottom-change gearbox fitted - but I imagine the diff and driveshafts will be different. I don't know, but I suspect the Delta will have the inner CV joints like the Mk1 Turbo?

Hopefully someone restoring a Mk1 Turbo can make good use of your now-rare gearbox - don't throw it away ;)

Later Mk1 Turbos and Mk2 Unos have a different and rather more robust gearbox, but nothing lasts forever.
