General Gearbox Issue

Hi

I've got a 1.4 active aircon and was driving it about 2 weeks ago and hear a bang. Didn't think anything of it and kept driving. Got in it the next day and 5th and 6th gear wouldn't engage but the reast are ok I've parked it up now but the gearbox has leaked. Any ideas what it might be and how much I'm looking at????

I had new gearbox as mine was cracked and leaking oil. Had problem with 1st and 2nd getting mega stiff.

Hope for best but either way from sounds of it, will cost you a bit.

Either to take out and fix or take out and put new one in. I had to fork out for recon for my 1.8 £749.99 <.< (gearbox alone + vat)

I'd just take it to good garage near you that you trust and go from there. On bright side =p can't be as bad as how much mine cost in total (thou did have new clutch/hydrolic slave both changed while they was at it, only charged me 180+vat for all the labour total - 1300. ;_

Take it to a good Fiat garage/dealer and check for any chance of a Sympathy Claim from Fiat (you're have no chance of this if you take it to a non Fiat garage)
