lol oh dear...i have only just read your posts!...kinda good news and bad news really...i got out bid in the last 25 SECONDS(!) on the bravo on ebay...

but have since found a really nice 1.4 :s bravo on autotrader...its in wigan so im travelling up from bristol in a minute - for the bargain price of £800...

heres abit about it:

the guy on the phone sounded as though he knew what he was talking about and had looked after the car. i have definitely learnt my lesson..and yes i am seriously into modifying but honestly this ones gonna last longer than my last bravo!! hopefully anyway...

why do you need another car if your getting the bravo fixed? and if you need it for work etc why not get a few hundred quid fiesta or something? 800 just seems a bit much to me if you dont intend to keep it? imo

As above, stick with either the 1.2 or 1.6 the 1.4 is a dire single point injection engine even a good example is still poor compared to the rest of the range and £800 is top money for that car

i do intend on keeping it...im havin my old one fixed, taking it back to standard and then selling it.

im really passionate about modifying and ive become so attatched to my bravo that i have no other choice but to get another one and carry it on...

im going to take the kit, wheels etc off the old one and put them on the new one...

but you will get very little power gains out of the 1.4 and if you are after another alleged 115bhp then you will be pushed to get this out of the 1.4 get a 1.6 you'll be much happier

You can easily get a 1997 (R/S) Plate 1.6 Bravo for Under £1k. I see them go regularly for this kind of money on ebay..

thanx for the offer alan, but id much rather have one that i can modify from scratch which is what i starte doing until i killed the old one...

iv decided to take everyones advice and im NOT going to buy the 1.4... im going to keep searching for a 1.6...think i may have found one...i placed a bid on 2 on ebay ystrdy but got out bid...theres a nice 1.6 but the lady on there has told me she will only take £1000 and no lower...and i dnt think its worth that much...

going to carry on searching now..wich me luck!

A tuned 1.6 is an animal compaired to a 1.2 i have one and am more than happy wit the way it goes although im pushing 125bhp (although i have just shot a piston at 117k miles)

i have lifted the 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 engines with the help of others and the 1.6 is by far the lightest!!! (2 man lift) (hgt is about a 3/4 man lift its that heavy lol). couple that with 125bhp and it goes very well.

incidentally, how much did the cams and dastek chip cost in total Ash? Would you say yours is as fast as a HGT now? I know the paxo VTS has 120bhp but can beat cars with much higher BHP (unfortunately )
