Anyone know the exact location and size of the gearbox drain plug?
Also how much the box takes?
Going to treat the ugbug to fresh oil as I would guess its never been changed...

Kudos to Bikedoc, this is his input from a previous thread.

There are 3 plugs on the gearbox, two at the front, and one at the left-hand end, under the left drive shaft CV joint.
The left one is the drain, 12mm Hex.
The upper one at the front is the fill plug (14mm).
The lower is the level plug (12mm), you fill it until it comes out of this one.
My fill plug is seized solid. It was a bit corroded too, the hex tool wouldn't go all the way in, and it just twisted out when I tried to undo it.
You can just fill it through the level plug hole anyway, capacity is 2 litres.

I did this one mine and had the same issue with the filler plug, filling from the level plug works well with an extended filling tube.
N.B. Check you can free the level plug and/or the filler plug BEFORE undoing the drain plug!!!!!!

hello, similar issue on my petrol model.
I can find two 12mm plugs, one one the side to drain and one 12mm on the front, quite near a sensor.
But I cannot find any other smaller level plug. If you can clarify where this is that would be helpful.
I've replaced the oil, but am worried I've filled it upto the fill plug rather than the level plug as cannot locate another one.
Cheers.

You can't really miss it..
Just get under the car and look at the gearbox where its joined to the enging then go up and you will see the hex hole..
On my 110jtd the hex hole further up was just a blank...so I just filled with the lowe one...

Hello,
I've had a look, but still can find only one on the front and one on the side.
I have a feeling, maybe JTD's and Petrols (as in mine), must have different gearbox designs?
