Technical Gear Reduction Starter

Can anybody here share first hand experience in fitting a gear reduction starter to a classic 124 Spider? With thanks!

Yes…I fitted one my Spider about three years ago with no problems installing it. Having said that, it’s one of the most awkward jobs to be done on the Spider, but the high torque starter is smaller so that helps and I converted mine to RHD…so haven’t got the steering box in the way. It does help to put a saw drift across the ends of the bolts to assist in screwing the bolts in with a screwdriver from the front side.
