I'm a resent Fiat convert, bought a multipla 02 jtd in June and a Stilo 02 jtd in July. Hey, Does anyone know what holds the Multiplas gear lever in position.Sometimes (3 times in the last 5 months)when I change gear it comes off in my hand. When it happens all I do is push it back down.Any clues???

Hi,
Do you mean the gear knob (bit at the top) or the whole gear stick? I'm going to assume you mean the gear nob. If so then it is just a push fit item, therefore once it comes off, it will never fit tightly again, and will keep coming off. The best way I found to solve this after having many nobs come off in my hand was to use some two part epoxy resin (can be bough from places like halfords, B&Q etc) and put some on the top of the shaft and then bash the nob on. Once its set, it shouldn't come off again!

Hope that is of some help,
Alan

It is the knob and surround, not the actual lever to be pricise. I'll try that with the resin that sounds a good trick...Cheers

Whne this kept happening to me, I fixed it by putting a book on top (to protect the knob) and then hitting it very hard several times. Hasn't come off since.

just buy a new gear knob, mine did the same . a leather one will cost £45.
