Technical Gear Box Problem

I have a grande punto 1.2 57 plate and today when putting my car into gear one it wouldn't move forward as per usual, it was moving as if i was only using my clutch.

Can anyone advice me on what could be wrong with my gearbox? is it the linkage?

Take a look underneath & inspect the linkage cables, they have been know to cause problems.
