I've managed to get myself thoroughly confused this afternoon, trying to find the right replacement fuel pump for my B. Many of the suppliers just list one type of pump for the B, but I know that can't be right, as the earlier Bs have a separate fuel filter. Later Bs seem to use fuel pumps with two connections (one of which is presumably an inlet for the fuel return). Mine's a July 98 build (so no separate filter), but it only has one fuel connection. Does that sound right?

Oh, and I was surprised to find that my pump was made in France, by Marwal.

Eper still doesn't solve the confusion, as for my engine number it lists 2 different fuel pumps!! (and both of those are stated either as being a replacement for another fuel pump, or as being replaced by yet another fuel pump - so in all, four different fuel pumps are listed!)

So, do any Bs use a fuel pump with an inlet and an outlet, and if so, which ones?

Driving ePER for the many/uninitiated is often problematical.

If you PM me your full chassis number I'll have a look as well on my much later version of ePER.

My 96 has the separate filter under the car, two connections at the pump (outward and return) and two hoses joining the fuel rail (in and return), if that helps...

i have a June 97, built B. I removed the pump to repair the gasket. It has an "in and out", marked with "arrows" to show flow direction.I have the under car gas filter. I would seriously consider an aftermarket inline pump and aftermarket sending unit.

I have yet to source a sending unit. I would rather not change the dash gauge but not many sending units have such a wide rang of resistance values as the fiat does.At full it's around six to zero ohms and at empty it's around 300. the tank is quite shallow ,maybe that's the reason. But I'm still looking. There are lots of pumps available.
