Technical Fuel filter replacing and air bleeding

Hello all,

I'm about to replace the diesel filter on my stilo. I have some doubts about the mechanism, I don't know if the JTD already has the self bleeding mechanism.
I take the filter off, fill a new one with diesel, put it on, rotate the key to mar position a few times and then start the car? Just that?

If you fill the new filter with diesel before you reconnect the pipework, you will not need to bleed and the engine will fire up straight away.

Just curious, if I don't fill the filter or if some air get in the pipes, does the mechanism self bleed?

JTD does not need bleeding after replacing the fuel filter and you don't need to fill the filter with fuel before fitting it.

Fit the new filter then turn the ignition on (without starting the engine) for 10 seconds 3 or 4 times. The engine will then start normaly.

I always find it easier, and cleaner, to disconnect the quick release fuel pipes and remove the complete filter head to change the filter.

Be sure not to get any dirt in the system while the filter (and pipes) are removed.

AYE no need to bleed just wip of the old one & re-place with good quality filter,the stilo will do the rest:worship:

Hey all,

Once again, thanks for the instructions. I've done the job
1- Disconnect 3 pipes and 3 electrical plugs.
2- Remove the head by unscrewing two bolts.
3- Unscrew the water sensor on the bottom.
4- Unscrew the filter by hand.

After making the reverse process, turn the ignition without starting the car, you will ear the pump injecting. Do it 1 or 2 times more and then fire it up

Straight forward guys...one of the simplest DIY I made on stilo.

tried pulling the water sensor off but won't budge i know this was changed last year so i it's not stuck,what am i doing wrong as i dont want to damage anything

The connector is similar to this one. You need to pull the connector off while holding the metal locking bar in.
