I'm getting dangerously close to MOT time and am having difficulty in replacing the controller for the front wiper.

I bought a spare motor via partsgateway and seem to have got something that's not from a Bravo/a...

(Obviously mine is the one in the background ;) )

Did Fiat use two types of wiper motor? The big give away is that this spare has a connector with 5 wires whereas mine has 4 (and so does Haynes electrical diag)

If I get a good part would replacing the controller board (in the white plastic housing) fix an intermittent wipe problem or does the whole motor need replacing?

Cheers

i have had my car about 12 month now and on 2 occasions for a about 2 or 3 weeks each i had no intremediate setting would just go like i had them on stage 1, so taken it that this is a common problem, sorry its no help to you but just thought id let you know, my wipers are fine now and havent changed the motor so could just be a lose connection or something

Open the white plastic casings and check all the connections inside. They tend to unsolder a bit and loose conntact. So when you drive on a bumpy road they start to work and after a bit they die.

im having problems with my wipers too. Only high speed and the touch wipe work. I had the motor exposed and took a circuit tester to the connections and theres power going to them all, so i can only assume i need a new motor (£132+vat from fiat). I might open it up again see if anything is loose. As regards mot, it passed without intermittant and normal speed!
