does anybody know if the wheel nuts on a elx with standard alloy wheels should have the spinner type normaly use with alloys .because mine has standard wheel nuts normaly used on steel wheels and with a slightly knocking cv joint 2 nuts vibrated out and two sheared off resulting in me losing my nsf wheel on the A38 !

Dont know the answer to your question, but know how you feel. Were you ok? Any damage to the car? Hows your discs etc?

if you mean a washer on the wheel bolt then no,it is threaded then tapers to a 17mm nut.it may be that the wheel bolts were not tight enough, and the wheel bolts on the passenger side are more likely to undo them selves[because of the direction of the wheel],check the others .........................

i have had the same problem and i have ended up getting a new wheel hub
but i cant fit it because i cant get a socket to fit.
can anybody help me with this.
thanks

Buy a socket that fits?

If the issue is that it won't fit into the hub then you need to machine down a good strong socket. I chose a 6 sided 'tighten on flat' impact socket. They were only available in 1/2" so to cope with the torque it was welded to a bar with a kink in to avoid the wheel arch.
