General Front splitter for MPI Seicento Sporting

Thanks for the comments mate! (y)
Yeah, they do look a bit orange don't they. It's probably because I uploaded them from my Apple Mac instead of the usual Windows laptop and the Mac's monitor is calibrated for colours differently so sometimes colours look different on non Mac screens.

That looks great I may do something similar with a Novitec front bumper on my Sei, depends on how things go (y)

OT: but is the mac setup for printing? Those pics are a country mile off, I had my white point adjustment at 2000K to make it look red (iirc that's something along the lines of -10~20 degrees out )

Thanks! (y)
Yep, the Mac is set up solely for printing I never use it for the web but the Windows laptop isn't at my house at the moment so I had to use it. I can't remember off hand what the colour calibration settings are as it's a long time since I set them but it is set up to match the screen with what I get when I print and that's the priority.
Tiziano Red is quite a bright red btw. I've seen loads of red Cinqs in particular which are quite dark in comparison to mine (I don't know what the shade of red is on them?), but I do agree the pics look a bit orange.

wow(y) im deffo going to order one of these:D

thanks alot mate for saving me a load on getting a new front bumper :)

Cheers OxO! (y)
You might have to order from your local Seat dealer as they probably won't have one in stock. I had to but they got it for me the next day so it's okay.
When you get one PM me and I will give you a few tips on the fitting which I haven't mentioned in the thread so far.
A few have asked me to do a fitting guide for the forum which I would have liked to do, but it really needed to be done during the fitting with pics of each stage. Since I had fitted it before I became a member it would be a bit difficult.
If anyone else buys one in the future and needs any tips they can PM me, but I'm sure you lot are all more than up for the job! :D

As you mentioned elsewhere this is the guide for the seat leon itself.

It would be cool if you could do that guide man, obviously you're not going to undo what you just did, however you can take pictures of the finished bits (the screwing on the bumper etc) and comment on the center cut as well :)

Like you say, as much as I'd like to help you guys out with a proper guide, I'm not prepared to take it off and photo the fitting stages, lol :D !

I will try and do some sort of photo guide and try and explain how I fitted it asap, but I'm without a digital camera at the moment (just sold it on ebay), so until I get my new one which should be in a week or so, I can't do it.
Just noticed that the pic at the top of this page is wrong - it now seems to be a big version of my avatar (incidentally taken from the Autocar March 2001 issue which ran a 6 page feature on the Sei Schumi when the man himself test drove it around Mugello). It should actually be a close up of the splitter, well nevermind.

Splitter looks great, and in my quest to force myself to drive ever slower over humps i'm looking to fit one.

However allthough it looks great from a distance, the gap on the sides is something id rather avoid to keep that OE look. Not a case of cutting th bumper really as im not going to have anything to screw the splitter to. Anyone else fitted one of these? or anyone have any ideas?

Hi Fella,

Brilliantly done, looks as if it were designed for the Sei. I have quite fancied the Merkur DTM splitter for a while. But it is too expensive and as there is not a distributor in the UK (Merkur are Swiss) I would get clobbered with import duty to boot.

I'm in the process of putting one on. I'm thinking of not chopping the middle but I've come to the corners. My mate says if I heat them up they should bend inbut how did you do the side bits to keep them in?

I did it one screw at a time carefully bending it to where it was needed then screwing it on.

The middle will have to be cut, and the 2 middle tabs trimmed down so it's flat, then fill the underside of the tabs with tigerseal otherwise it will just get ripped off.

The plastic from the middle that you cut out can be used to rejoin the 2 halfs again using tigerseal.

Did you cut straight down the middle then work with that one side? You got any pictures of yours?

No I fitted one side on first then gauge how much I needed to cut out of the middle.

I think I cut 2 inches out of the middle and used that peice over the top to join up the 2 halfs, but needed to take more off the 2 halfs but keep the split central so that the "patching" peice sits centrol over the top.

I haven't got any decent pictures showing what I did to be honest. Never really thought to take any as I was doing it.

Couldn't really measure it as they aren't made very symmetrical.

Thanks

sorry i didnt see your first set of pictures i was on my phone.
very nice.
could you do a favour mate, you know the two stump things in the middle could you measure from the inside of the stumps and that could help.
yeah but i got a standard engine, no wonder it would rip your splitter off with the power youll be putting out lol :p
cheers

I'll try and get a measure on it tomorrow for you as it's pissing it down outside :bang:. If I get a breif dry period i'll run out for you.

You will need to fill the underside of those stubs with tigerseal as it will prevent the screw being pulled through. People have a tendancy to step on my splitter at shows, aswell as me catching it on driveways .

Thanks

X

i ended up going with a mk4 polo splitter, as the leon wouldnt suit the older SPI seicentos in my eyes.

was even simpler to fit than a leon one.
chopped about an inch of both the ends, and then bent it in slightly and self tappered it in.
