Front speakers distorting

I have a mk1 punto 75sx and have just installed a new pioneer head unit, before gettin my new 6x9 my speakers would distort at slightly higher volumes, now I have fitted new alpine e typre 6x9, they too also distort? :bang: how can i fix this? Thanks!

Turn the bass down on the EQ.

yes i have tried that and still distorts at higher volumes, also i want my 6x9 to be bassy and front ones not to be? how would I do that?

Get an amp. What percentage of the volume does it start distorting.

It's because the headunit on board amp isn't powerful enough. Getting an amp like Stu said is the only way around this, one that has built in crossovers.
