Hi, I hit some stone with front right wheel and now front of the car randomly shaking in speed between 80 -100km/h. When I slow down the shaking immediately stops.
Checking the wheels, wheel bolts and wheel ballancers looks ok, but when I check the wheels, bending them horizontally there is little play/movement on both wheels.
My friend suggest that shaking can be cause by this as wheels lose the symmetry.
Now trying to check where can be the problem and looks that can be the bar inside of steering shaft.
NOW the PROBLEM
trying to buy this part on-line, I can see that there is plenty of types of this bar varying by bolt diameter, length ...

How I can know which part to order without desmonting the car and measuring the original part?
thank you

On my car if I take out the battery and look at the steering rack there is an embossed metal label with the maker and model of the steering rack.

If Austria is like Finland you can reliably go to the local motor shop/warehouse, quote your registration and know which parts will fit your car. If there is a choice of parts you can bring back the one you do not use.

Why dont you do a wheel balancing first? You shall see also if the right wheel is looking like a donut from the hit it took.

thank for reply
I found only sticker in motor area with No for spares which seems to not be valid for OEM parts
thank you anyway

Thank you for your suggestion but I dont think so, I have quite big aluminium rims (it was there when I bought the car) and the hit was more from the right side of the right front wheel.
I can feel some play when moving with wheels in horizontal direction.
thank you

It could be track rod ends or steering track rods.
You need two people to diagnose where the play is coming from exactly.
And those steering track rods usually need a special tool to remove.
Much cheaper to go to your local garage
Why not take it to a garage for a professional opinion

Wheels shouldnt have any movement in them except rotational

Any lateral or vertical movements indicates a worn bushing or ball joint

High speed bump areas will kill bushings and joints faster along with potholes.....

If you hold 12 and 6 on wheel and you have movement - its likely the bottom ball joint
If its 3 and 9 it likely to be track rod ends
