If you want to understand how Charlie came to this situation then I suggest you read his books rather than the daily rags. They're only interested in circulation - not the truth! In the book "Bronson" Charlie makes no bones about his behaviour in the past. He freely admits that there were years of insanity and violence. But he has since been declared sane (how many of us can say that?)

These days Charlie is an artist, a writer and a poet. His work has won prizes. Over the years he has raised many thousands of pounds for children's charities and other good causes.

This website is NOT a fan-site but a place of information about a human being who has had his Human Rights dismissed as irrelevant. What is stated here is all factual. Please take the time to read through the pages and get to know and understand the real Charles Bronson and sign the petition when you come to the conclusion that it's the right thing to do.

I know Charlies brother Mark, and yes I have signed the petition.

Good point.

I worked with a man who suffered a mental breakdown; to the point where he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act. After a few months, he got better and came back to work.

One morning, In a meeting, things got a bit heated and the boss, purple with apoplectic rage, screamed at my colleague.

"What are you thinking man, are you insane?"

To which my colleague quickly replied

"No, and I have a certificate to prove it; have you?"

If its not a fan site, why are the "facts" so coloured in his favour?

Born Michael Peterson 0n 6 December 1952, his name was changed by his fight promoter in 1988. It had nothing to do with the actor Charles Bronson's film "Death Wish" as is usually reported in the newspapers. It was actually the third name they considered, the first being Jack Palance!
He is now 58 years of age.
He has NEVER killed anyone or harmed a woman or a child! He is NOT a danger to the public. really? armed robbers and hostage takers are no danger?
He was originally sentenced to 7 years in 1974 for armed robbery of a post office in which he stole £26.18 - a robbery in which no one was hurt and the gun wasn't loaded as he didn't want to risk hurting anyone. the sum is irrelevant, the gun wasnt loaded.well thats alright then. shoving an unloaded shotgun i someones face is fine then?
He has now spent over 36 years in prison, 32 of those years have been spent in solitary confinement. who caused that?
He has been subject to both physical and psychological brutality throughout his incarceration. by whom and whoose evidence?
He was released on 30 October 1988 and spent 68 days as a free man. Imprisoned for stealing an engagement ring for his fiancé. so cant manage to earn a living leally?
Released again on 9 November 1992 and spent 53 days as a free man. so still cant manage to earn a living leally? Conspiracy to rob.
The prison authorities have not allowed him to mix with other prisoners since 1999 (HMP Hull CSC unit with 5 others). no reason for that then?
In 2000 he was sentenced to LIFE with a three year tariff for holding a teacher hostage for 44 hours - a teacher who was not physically harmed by Charlie. ah yeah, held against your will by an armed roober for 2 days.no harm done then
Charlie has NEVER tried to escape from prison.
He has shown little sign of violence for the past ten years, little? so still not rehabilitated?but there has been NO attempt by the prison to introduce a programme of rehabilitation. isnt this a privelage and not a right. perhaps those who actually deal with him see others who are more worthy?
He has been certified as clinically SANE.
His art has occupied him for the past fourteen years and is now his life. perhaps if he had chosen this path earlier it would have been of more relevance
His artwork is unique and is sent to and exhibited over all the corners of the world.
He has published fifteen books.
He has received numerous prizes for his poetry, including six awards from The Koestler Trust.

why exactly would i want this person on the same streets as me?

Try reading a little more and maybe you'll know why, but I doubt it.

Charlie is a polite well educated man, I doubt he would want to be in the same country as you, let alone the same street.

Armed robbery, GHB, False imprisonment multiple assualts. Yeah release him so there's more room in the prison for Muslims. :ROFLMAO:

A little unfair considering robbery was his only offence committed outside the walls of a prison. The rest committed years ago in reaction to the terrible treatment he received while in prison.

Almost 40 years in prison. Hes a changed man and deserves a second chance, unlike some that were released a few years ago after serving only 8 years.

Yeah, sounds like a lovely guy! That website you quoted misses all the parts of the hostage situations he caused and all injuries to people, fights, woundings etc.

But then again why not free him! May aswell free every other violent in prison aswell! He's written a few books and drawn a few disturbing pictures that some people consider 'art' - so what?

He deserves to be where he is, he earnt it

Like I said earlier, that all happened a long time ago, diagnosed as insane at the time, pushed over the edge by the ill treatment he recieved.

He's done more than enough time in prison, almost 40 years.

Prison reforms gave him the chance he needed to better himself and he has. He deserves a second chance.

It's while in prison he has taken so many people hostage, caused injury to so many inmates and guards! Just because someone gave him a piece of paper to say he's sane doesn't mean he isn't capable of it all still.
It's in his nature.

If that was the case with him then we'd have to go through every prisoner in the country and if they are deemed to be 'sane' then we should release them?
I like the way he's been treated for what he's done. Maybe every prison should do the same for every prisoner? That's how it used to be.

He deserves a second chance.

But thats not what the judicial system and the `experts` seem to think, least not at this moment in time. What makes you disagree with them and why believe others, in the main, fans and supporters know better?

Can you as an individual say with 100 percent certainty he would never slip back into his old ways if released based just on the opinions of others? It would be a pretty strong statement if you could.

No-one could be 100% about any prisoner being released.

But I honestly believe in him and think he deserves a second chance.

Its sad that a man who has turned his life around may never get the chance to prove to us all that he's not the insane 20 year old he once was.

Why him and no one else that's in jail? You could say the same about them al in there with an equally violent past

In addition to that, How many times has he been free since doing time the first time round?

He steals an engagement ring, then was a free man after that and arrested again for conspiracy to rob. That by my count is 3 chances he's already had. So you want to give him a 4th?

Sane Shadey?...SANE?

....Phil Danielson, the prison art teacher who Bronson took hostage at Hull Prison in 1999, tying him up with a computer cable and leaving him lying on a snooker table in a recreation hall while he danced round him with a knife taped to a snooker cue as a makeshift spear.

Bronson told the terrified teacher 'Right, you keep quiet. Most people want to keep quiet before they die' and then added not long afterwards: 'Take your last breath because this knife is going in you.'

Danielson's only crime had been to criticise mildly one of Bronson's drawings, and even now, a decade later, the teacher remains so traumatised by the memories of the attack that he has recently taken early retirement on medical grounds, at the age of 46

Yep....lets let him out, sounds perfectly sane and decent enough to me, in fact he is just the kind of guy you would want to live next door to (y)
