Much Time and effort has obviously gone into this, fair play to you.
Keep it looking subtle and standard I say, all that fibreglass isn't my cuppa.

Gotta love that vid with you talking though lol.

When do you plan on finishing it??

Ohh and tell that heather if she wants a piping ;);););) :) LOL.

Just you know, your boot will crack... just so you know from the start before its sprayed, chuck it in the bin and get a new boot lid and start again, i will happily explain how to do it over msn.

Yup. theres no easy way to smooth a bravo bootlid.
Pauls done it a few times now, and think he learned the hard way on his first one ;) Luckily i benefitted from one of his later efforts :D

sorry to take this thread abit OT but why will it crack and which is the best way to do it paul?

the boot is metal, the plate is plastic, and the smoothing material is brittle fibreglass and resin/hardener! When it gets warmer or cooler, each material expands and contracts, except the metal will expand much much more than the fibreglass. Thus it crushes or pulls apart.

Yep, buzz has pretty much hit the nail on the head... you basically have 3 materials and all will expand at different rates, result, cracks in the bodywork.

to something a boot you need a metal plate and weld it in place and fill over the top, or you can get away with a fibre glass insert and fibre glass over the 2 BUT still not as good.... smoothing the handle into the boot is very hard work, just ask ash g aswell,,, (told you so ash ;) )

I had to trim the handle by a significant amount use ALOT of sikaflex and lots of fibreglass, there is no where enough fibreglass there to stop the movement... Its almost imposible to take all the movement out, would be nice to see how my boot lid on the hgt is holding out on my old hgt.

And yes buzz... yours took a long time to get right, mainly because someone else had attempted it before me :(

looks like you have started doing lots of things but not finished any 1 thing to me. thats not meant in a nasty way im sure you intend to finish them all but im bemused as to why you dont focus on one thing at a time.

Anything With Tits or Wheels Will Cost You MONEY!!

Its called multi-tasking. The only problem with doing it micks way mind you, is that you end up changing your mind about a job half way through, because you've been doing something else and it makes you see different possibilities. If you've finished doing a job, you are a lot less likely to re-do it.

Neither way is wrong, but i'm more like you Ash, and just do 1 or 2 things at a time. and usually with months and months in-between. lol. (thats probably more of a financial thing mind you)
