General Fog Lamps

Next problem is to sort the front fog lamps. Hopefully this will be a simple blown fuse but does anyone know if a defective fuse would allow the LED on the switch to illuminate? The LED comes on, indicating power to the switch. Where are the fuses for the lights? Your advice, as always, most welcome...

Thanks FDL. Do I need to remove the panel below the glove box? It has two large phillips screws underneath and a further two, smaller screws on the edge....

It's easiest to remove the panel, comes out very easily, then use a mirror and torch if your not a contortionist to locate the panel. If I recall there was a post somewhere showing which fuse/ relay was what, made the job very easy.

are you sure fog fuse is under passenger's dash? not under drivers dash? not sure now...

If the led on the switch is working i dont think its the fuse in passenger side.When my fuse was blown the green light was not coming on when i pressed the switch.

Correct - A red one. Take the small panel off to your left knee.

2 fuses for the fogs. More than likley the drivers side one has gone.

Only one fuse for the fogs. The one in the driver's side is for the LED in the switch.

Ok guys... still no sign of my roof tiles so I've decided to try to fix the front fog lamps. I have removed the panels from both sides. My manual (in Italian) seems to show that my car doesnt have front fog lamps. It does show Luce antinebbia posteriore, (rear fog lamp) I have taken a photo of the drivers side fuse board and cant work out which is fuse number 4. I have removed the 20A fuses and they appear OK. I'm confused...

I have checked all the fuses on both sides and they are all OK. According to the Italian owners manual, there is a fuse on the passenger side that 'spies on the fog lamp' This is a literal translation of the Italian and, I assume, means it supplies the power to the switch LED and monitors the lamp. On the drivers side, there is a fuse missing from the board... it is the top fuse on the RH column - this column of fuses are not identified in the owners manual and are not shown on the inside of the panel cover. Does anyone know what the vacant slot is for or, have a fuse layout diagram?

If it's not this, try the relay. I assume you've checked the bulbs...

That, TJA, is exactly what I've been looking for. I have checked one bulb and its ok. I am going to have another look at the passenger side now and I'll let you know. Thanks mate.

RESULT.... fuse 4 is intact but I replaced it anyway. I then tried the switch but still no lights. I then went to remove the relay but as soon as I touched it, it 'clicked' and the lights came on. I have removed the relay, cleaned the connectors and refitted it. All appears to be ok. Interestingly, I found a small plastic wallet containing a picture of Saint Rita and a prayer in Italian. The wallet has the Italian Ovunque Proteggimi on the front which I have googled and means "Protect me or shield me" Incidentally, Saint Rita is the patron saint of impossible causes. I assume the prayer was put there by the first owner and I have put it back behind the panel where it belongs. Many thanks TJA...
