HI im intrested in getting some oval universal indicators just wondering how can i fit them and replace the horrible orange ones. Will i hav 2 cut some wires ?

yea u will have to cut the old fiat connector off the old indicators.

but first, u will need to get the arch liners off, may have to jack the car up an take the wheel out for that as well, then u have to push the old indicator out from the back, then cut the wires off, crimp the new indicator wires onto the old ones, remember to check if the indiactor works at this point, if everythin is fine push the new indicator wire through the hole and try to secure them behind the arch liner to stop them moving around. if they are universal and use that sticky black stuff at attach them to the body work i would recomend using some sort of sealer (silicone is best) all around the hole on the inside of the body work to stop dirt an water gettin into the indicators.

after all that is done an u are happy, stick arch liner back on, stick wheel back on if u had to take it off (makes it 100 times easier to get liner out if u do!) and there u go, fancy indicators, only took me a couple of hours when i did it!

My oval universals toke about 10 mins to fit them both, I twisted the orignal indicators and they just pulled out. I had no need to cut the wiring, if i remember correctly i just had to pull some sort of cap off the origanal wires and that seperated them rdy to plug in to the universals, altho im not to sure about that but i do remember i had to cut no wires and they simply plugged straight in.

The universals then fitted straight into the exsisting hole and i used the sticky back that came wit them to secure them on the car, been on for about 3 months now and so far have not leaked in anywater.

I had no need to jack up the car remover the wheel or the liner to gain access to the indicators, just a twist to the left i think and they pull out, of course dont let the wires fall back in the hole or you will have to remove everything to get tem back, which nearly happened to me.

mine wouldnt twist out at all, in fact they shouldnt twist out.

if u look at the plastic bit that holds them in, it has 2 bits that need to b compressed in order to fir through the hole.

at least mine did.

and the indicators i bought only had 2 wires on them, so i had to re crimp them onto the original wiring.

weird how little thing like that can make such a difference in time needed to perform the mod!

i took a great big screwdriver to my indicators when i changed them, not the most subtle way to get them out :p

as for wiring dont ask me, im not very good at it

lol, i just put the focus style ones off the yellow cinq onto the red today, and man what a bizatch, one the clips had somehow got a stone in it so wouldnt let me press the clip in to push it out, of course i couldnt see this at the time and was getting soooo peeved off trying to get it out, then saw the problem 20 mins later and laughed :p

look ace though :D pics tomorrow

Yeah, little screwdriver helps release the repeater and then the whole assembly comes out, snip off the old connector if required and crimp new connectors on i.e. little spades and then plonk it back on.

I've never fitted new repeaters but one of mine wasn't working for the MOT and on inspection the dirt and moisture had corroded the conection so I renewed it and wrapped it in insulating tape.
