Does yours change gear on it's own? if not it is a manual. if it does it's a dualogic.

selecting reverse will crunch a little if you push it to quickly. just make sure you have your foot right down on the clutch! ;)

Dual logic is manual box,same set up but with addition hydraullic unit operating selector shaft insteard of a cable/linkage.

but im not shore if my 1.4 16v sporting has this. its a 6 speed.

think we need to start a new forum on this topic because this is 18 pages loooooonnnnnnng.

Mine crunched when cahing up to 3rd over 3000rpm, and did the same when coming back down the box at speed.

Think it was a bush or something in the gear linkage. Was sorted out quickly by the dealer (y)

eh?! :confused:
dualogic = auto
manual = manual

sporting isnt dualogic.

:idea: think we need to just get rid of the thread completely as it seems to be so mixed up with junk it's getting fustrating!

I spent 3 hours one saturday afternoon editing it all........ended up giving up!

Come on Kev...parts 3 is due out!!!

(At the risk of being labeled a complete tosser) I posted the second complaint letter yesterday.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to lodge a second formal complaint about the Fiat Punto I bought in October 06.

The problem lies with the Dualogic transmission. With the car left cold/undriven for two or more days, the transmission judders violently when moving from standstill in first gear to second gear. This applies for both automatic and manual modes. Once the car has been driven more approximately thirty minutes, the gearbox reverts to its normal operations.

For the past six months I have worked very closely with my dealer to have this problem rectified. To be precise they have already had three chances to “look into the problem”:
  • First attempt: could not fault the problem, recalibrated the gearbox, problem not resolved.
  • Second attempt: faulted/experienced the problem, recalibrated the gearbox and adjusted the brake switch, problem still not resolved.
  • Third attempt: could not fault the problem.
My dealer has suggested I book my car in (for the fourth time) so they can “look into the problem” again. However I am not prepared to waste anymore of my time because the dealer obviously does not know what the source of the problem is, let alone have any idea what the solution is. (In addition I have brought my car into another dealer to have this examined, and they too could not source or resolve this problem.)

There is obviously a fault with this particular Dualogic transmission, including how it had caused my partner and I severe inconvenience several months ago – for more information please refer to the first formal complaint that I lodged in January of this year (enclosed).

I look forward to hearing from you in due course regarding how you would be able to help resolve this. If I receive no response to this letter, dated 21st May 07, within 14 days, then I will refer this case to consumer association groups and/or my solicitor for further action. I can be contacted on xxxx xxx xxx or xx xxxx xxxx.

Best regards,

Kevin

Will be interesting to see what happens next...

Just for your info Kev I read the below sentence in a review for the Golf GT today and I thought you could relate to it:

Acceleration from rest is brisk accompanied by a slight judder from the clutch with which regular DSG users will be familiar.

It sounds like this is common in these types of gearboxes, but note that it says "Slight" not "Violent". Looks like you're using the right word to describe it ;)

Well I don't have any expectations - I don't expect it to be fixed, replaced or resolved. If that's the case and if its proven not to be a characteristic (which can be hard to prove), then I'll just stay away from Fiats after I sell it in a few years time - simple as that :)

Btw what's DSG?
