NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

It's started early!!!!!!

Well i was rushing out of the house this morning to do the horses and it was frozen solid. After fighting a losing battle last year i had new cables fitted at my MOT last february by Fiat but its still happening.

Cue a screaming bitch fit and I am seriously having to consider swapping my beloved yellow hgt as i cant face walking the half a mile up a very steep hill every morning at daft O'clock to do the horses all winter.

Can anybody recommend any make of cables that dont tend to freeze?

it isnt the actual cable which freezes, its the little rubber bit at each end of the cable which come off and allow the freezing wind to get in and freeze it.

I have had it on 3 fiats over 4 years, I just leave the car in gear and the handbrake off, just remember not to lean in and start it while it's in gear, I have been chasing my old HGT down the road before now!

Best way Darren. Only time I use my handbrake is at traffic lights or queueing trafiic.

Well I had it on my old HGT, wasn't untill I got about 1/2 mile up the road when I realised the sluggish performance wasn't just the cold weather!!

Well I just kept going for about 3miles but it didn't get any better... infact it started to smell of burning brake pads so I had to admitt defeat and get the de-icer out.

Lift the car up, take off the drums.
On the part that goes in the drum (spring) put grease so the cable "pipe" (dunno the eng. therm) stays closed, on the part where the cables go to one cable take off the rubber and pour oil in the "pipe" of the cable, when its full slam grease on it so the cable closes. Now put the rubber back on and put a cable tie on its end, so it wont slip off because of the grease.

Winter and cold can come ;)
I have such setup on my car for 4years now and here goes the temp to -7/-17 in winter.
