OK,

I've been perplexed with my Cinq overheat warning light so did some experimenting. The manual says it only lights when overheating. Tested that it worked OK earthing the sensor wire so it must be a switch/wire/bulb (only has one wire)

The Seicento owners manual say it lights up with the ignition and then goes out (like the code light) I believe that is managed by the ECU some way and has a resistance at all times?

What is perplexing you?

Cheers

I bought my cinq about 6 weeks ago and the previous owner of 5 years was proud of the cars condition and upkeep. 95% of the car is good but after a week or so I spotted a few points such as (non terminal) rust that started to worry me.

How the overheat light worked wasnt as well documented as it is for the Seicento so I had figure out if it was working or not and how. Only FIAT could make it so that it doesn't self test at startup!

I hoped some of my observations could be of use to this thread......
