Technical Filler Pipe Fixing Ring

There might be one of these on a car in a breakers near me. I know the cap was missing but pretty sure the ring is still there. Won't be able to find out until Monday though. Only problem is if you can't get them off without breaking them I won't hold out much hope of it coming off I'm one piece!?

That is the issue The problem is you can only get at 2 of the 4 clips that hold it in place. If you were to cut the filler pipe near the top, you could spin the whole thing round and then use a screwdriver to push the clips out. Sounds like alot of bother for you though, so unless you were going anyway don't worry about it, I have emailed the people breaking the accident damaged 750 on eBay to see if they can help.

Thanks for you help:worship: I presume it is a 2WD not a 4x4? Not quite as bad then.

Aye, its a 2wd. Shame it ended up there. Looks like it was a nice car once. 34,000 mile selecta. Nothing left of it now though to speak of except a few trim bits

I wonder who got the gearbox....

When I first found it about 7 months ago it had the box but he wanted £250 for it (London prices ) so I laughed and said good luck with that. A couple of days later I went back for some indicator lenses and he'd sold the box the thing is I can't see any reason that car would end up in the breakers unless the box was ruined so I pity the person who bought it!!

i dont know how the hell i managed, but i got the one off the fallout project in one piece!
just wondering if theres a way i can change the filler pipe to look more... "scrap look" thus rendering the use of the ring.. useless...

sadly it does not look like it :/with the 4x4 pipe being that stupid shape i cant do anything with it.

Unless i use the spare marbella tank i have..... with the round filler pipe (sadly i dont have that bit though )

Well my epic first bodge involved a coke can wrapped around the filler pipe so the wheel could rub it but not burn through, basically looked like a can in the wheel arch this might work for you John?

Mk1 fillers have to be the way to go to avoid tyre rubbage issues, also look alot more 'scrap look'. Incredibly easy to remove also, why did they ever change it

That's such a shame.... Having seen it in the flesh, it must have been a pretty decent car before being pranged.... Sorry it wasn't any use....
