file sharing in vista without passwords

can it be done?

I want to be able to share a folder and then anyone, or any deveice on my network be able to access it without their login details having to match an account on my PC.

I'm sure it must be possible, but I got that hacked off trying to find out how to do it that I eventually gave up. Not much use I know, sorry

Right click the folder you want to share, click properties then sharing, then click you understand the risks etc share anyway - dont use the filesharing wizard.

I did it that way dan, but it still asks for a username and password on the other machine(s)

im getting that way, glad my xp install is safe on my array!

nada, i did that anyway as i dont like wizzards - and despite setting file permissions to 'Everyone - read' it hasn't worked.

i'm a spanner, network and sharing centre > Password Protected File Sharing > OFF
