Fiat are working on what it describes as "aspirational models with a premium feel". Their chief marketing exec has admitted at the launch of the 500X they can't rely on the small car market alone and need to start producing bigger cars again. It's widely believed the first will be the long rumoured Fiat- or Abarthed-badged sports that has been developed in conjunction with Mazda's new MX-5 although I thought they'd abandoned that (or was that just Alfa?).

It all sounds very promising and what we've been saying for a while now and then you get to the end of the article.

"A radical replacement for the Bravo hatchback is also thought to be planned for later in the year or early in 2016, which could take the form of a crossover-like vehicle in the vein of the Nissan Qashqai"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"aspiration models with a premium feel" worries me, that's basically them saying "Let's make some fashion based cars in the vein of the 500, then we can charge a premium price based on that"

Andy, I think you'll find the current new FIAT line up as follows:

Panda
Punto
500
500L
500X
Doblo
Qubo

Compare that to the likes of Vauxhall

Adam
Corsa
Agila
Astra
Vectra
Zafira
Ampera
Mokka
Antara
Cascada

Ford:

Ka
Fiesta
Focus
B-Max
S-Max
Galaxy
Mondeo
C-Max
Ranger
Kuga

Fiats line-up isn't that big when compared to other high-selling manufacturers.
