Hi.
I own a Fiat type 1.4ie the year 93. Spends a lot of gasoline, 10-11 l / 100 km.
It can be in the fresh air? Before the air filter there is a thermostat which opens and closes a butterfly. When the engine is cold the valve is closed, and when it reaches operating temperature the valve opens fresh air to mix with hot engine air. In my car does not happen, the valve is always closed hot air getting into the engine all the time. It can be fixed? Porter manual says you have to change the whole box, but can not find the parts. What between warm air to the engine is not bad for its reliability?
Would not it be better to block the valve in open position always? I know it would be worse for cold start. Fortunately this winter has chilled a few days (have not dropped -4ºC almost never).
Thank you very much for the answers.
I'll come asking for advice, the car has 90000km, almost every city. And that wears a lot.
