Technical Fiat Strada 2006 1.2 8V not starting after head gasket replacement.

Good day fellow fiat owners.

I have had the misfortune of my Fiat Strada Pick-up 1.2 8V experiencing a head gasket failure.

I have had the head skimmed and vacuum tested, all 100%.
I have replaced all belts, pulleys and have done a full service to the car.

Found that one of the injectors had failed and have replaced all the injectors and timing crank sensor.

Unfortunately the car does not start now.

I have used the timing locking tools (from JTC tool) to set the timing. I have used these tools when I changed the timing belt previously with no problems.

Checked for spark on all 4 plugs, all good.
Checked for fuel on all injectors. Had them connected to the fuel system out of the inlet manifold, all good.
Checked Lambda sensor, seems to be good.
Checked all fuses, all good.

I have even used the Multiecuscan software, error found was the the injector 1 had failed. Cleared all errors.

I not sure what to look for now.
The car has me stumped.:bang:
I even went to the agents, and they couldn't even find my VIN number on their system.

I would appreciate any assistance/guidance in what to look for next.
Looked for electrical wiring diagrams, but have had no success.

I made sure.
Had the HT cables out and plugged into old spark plugs to check while cranking the engine..
The fuel rail was lying on the tappet cover when I put the new injectors in and checked that way, while cranking the engine.

This is a strange one.

Maybe spray just a little fuel in the throttle body.. if it then
'Attempts to run'... you know its probably not seeing fuel

Do check for the immobiliser symbol on dashboard too..

Whilst all plugs are getting a spark, just check that you've put the leads on the correct ones. A simple error can bring a huge headache.

You replaced the crank sensor. Was this as 'good practice', or was the old one failing? If the old one was still working, put it back in. The repalcement could be a duff one. Make sure its wiring is undamaged.
While down there, check the crank pulley is on in the right place. The locating pip is not big, and will allow the pulley to be fitted wrong. This will put the spark in the wrong place.

You could recheck the cam timing, make sure nothig has slipped, and that the cam is turning. I doubt this will be a problem, but easy to rule it out.

Some feedback:

The good news, got the car to start.:slayer:

It all had to do with timing.
I did more investigation and discovered that the instructions that came with the tool (crank locking tool) were incorrect.
I came across an article from"ContiTech" (https://www.pressebox.com/pressrele...t-Tips-for-Changing-Timing-Belts/boxid/707041) and discovered the correct way to use the tool. (see Attachment)
I also found the actual design schematics for the tools on a Russian web site.(will attach).
I proceeded to use the tool correctly and that was it.
The car started immediately.

I hope my experience will help others.
