I remember thinking the same think in the 90's when I got a shot of an Octavia. I thought "this is an Audi A4"

If you also look at early Dawoo they look the the MK2 Astra.

Never seen that Yugo before. Did they sell them in the UK? Another would be the Lada Riva. Stick round headlamps on it and its a Fiat 131 (Mirafiori)

Also, the side profile of the old daweoo leganza is virtually identical to a maserati quattroporte

Just had a look at that and yes, its quite close. If you were any good with bodywork you could re do that front end of the Daewoo and have a cheap sports car :D

It's possible, but I hope I never live to say the day someone puts a maserati badge on a daweoo lol. Someone near me has offended me by sticking Bentley badges on his chrysler 300c and that's bad enough.

I had a MG Metro that i stuck the Turbo badges on but at least that was the same brand of car. :D My google is not working to well but that Fiat 131 shape was also used in a car I hired one year in Turkey. For the life of me I cant remember the brand. I just remember it being scary. Those Turks are nutters on the roads.

The Lada was based on the Fiat 124, as was the Polski Fiat 125. Yugo Sana was sold here briefly but was totally crap. Strangely, Fiat offered the Stilo floorpan etc to MG/rover but they turned it down which was a mistake. They tested JTD engines in Rover 75's just before they went bust. Can't figure why people slag off Stilos I find mine an agreeable car and no worse than say an Astra or Focus, neither of which are not without their faults.

the Sana just about got going here, when the Americans bombed the factory..,
Civil unrest throughout the 90's.

if they'd got the fab TD engine of the TIPO..at a budget price things MAY have been different..still got my sales Quote for a TD SX Tipot £15,300 in @1993..!!

I used Wiki to ensure I'd got the name right ( Sana) gave the whole ( maybe even correct) story,
after using FIAT 's old tooling for years, they are part of FIAT World group now,

producing punto 2B's for the local market apparently..,

Another is the Toyota Corolla that looks a lot like the Stilo shape

The Italian Cherry. Think I only ever seen one and that was in Germany. Was it Datsun at the time? Think it had moved on to Nissan by then as I am sure my Stanza was Nissan.

Ah, the good old Cherry Europe! How can one cracking engine be so unlucky as to be put into two cars that rotted so fast! Mind, if I could find either an Arna or Europe in one piece I'd buy it.
