Qubo multijet dynamic 1.3 Dynamic 2010 42k on the clock.

Bought my 18 year old daughter this vehicle end of February to use as a van for her dog walking business.

She will be driving along and suddenly loose power, almost as if its stalled, the lights on the dash come on, radio cuts off. This can be driven both manual and auto and it has an electronic clutch.

I had a mechanic out as it needed a starter motor, it’s after this that this issue started. He was a nice chap, very helpful and so called him out again he plugged it in to his diagnostics and it came up with a gearbox fault, the mechanic to drive it in manual instead as it was slow to change in automatic, however he’s not a gearbox specialist so doesn’t repair them.

He took it for a 6mile test drive and fault did not happen to him, gave it once over but couldn’t find anything obvious.

It then did the issue again, so called AA out he didn’t get a gearbox fault he got an accelerator pedal fault potentially from his diagnostic machine. He took it out for a test drive with my daughter - didn’t happen!

We then booked it in with a auto electrician for diagnostics on Friday just gone - his machines are specific to car make so give more in depth codes etc

His report said driver error - daughter is the issue as he got a fault saying coherence of both pedals being pressed at the same time, causing it to ‘stall’.

Really at a loss as daughter is adamant she
Doesn’t clip pedals not even sure really how you can press both even accidentally as you use the same foot on automatic the other foot is redundant, not even 24hrs later it’s flashed ‘check transmissions’ and broken down 3 times on a 30 minute journey. Although not “stalled” radio has cut off twice, a warning light and several dash things and beeping.

Really at a loss as to what to do and how to sort this.

Anyone have any ideas or had experience at 18 she’s not got the funds to keep having mechanics and diagnostics with no further resolve.

Thank you in advance

I know nothing specific about your model, but my suggestion is she drives the vehicle with a diagnostic "data logging " tool connected , so that when the fault occurs there will be a record of the conditions at the time.
Many on the Forum use MES MultiEcuScan tool from a company called Gendan, you could contact them and ask if it would be suitable to diagnose the problem.
Going back to the AA mechanics claim re pressing both pedals, I do know that on modern cars there are often three wires at the pedal sensors, so if you do press both pedals, brake and accelerator, the vehicle can temporarily loose power during the time they are pressed, as the cars computer assumes there is a fault.
I found this annoying as in the past for instance with a car with squeaky brakes I would drive down a quiet road with brake and accelerator pressed in a low gear, this had the affect of "deglazing" the brake pads and getting rid of the squeak/squeal, I can not do that on ECU controlled vehicles now.
Many diagnostic tools if reading "live data" will show if each pedal is depressed or released. It could be a lazy pedal sensor affecting the readings.
However I have not known that to cause lights to come on the dash board or the radio to cut off.
I am not a fan of modern ECU controlled automatic gearboxes as I know many do cause issues.
Just a thought, to remove the claim of "driver fault" could you run the car for a week or so? I have known even experienced drivers develop bad habits (am sure I am one) over the years, one that springs to mind was where a customer would wear out prematurely the clutch release bearing with no wear on the clutch it's self, on driving with him I soon noticed he had a habit of resting his left foot over/on the clutch pedal, the problem was fixed by getting him to make a conscious effort to position his foot away. I am saying merely to eliminate the AA mechanics claim from the situation.;)

Check the brake lights.
As the pedal is pressed, very slowly, when do they come on? Is it too soon, a clean on, or do they flicker?
I'm thinking a dicky brake light switch will send silly messages to the gearbox computer. A bump/pothole may be enough to cause the switch to operate.
Earth cable, as above also a very good shout.
