Re: Fiat Punto

what mpg are you getting?
has it been serviced?
what type of driving do you do?
does it have any known faults?

Re: Fiat Punto

I get at the moment between 42-44 mpg. A full tank of diesel will last about 380 miles.

I do motorway driving, albeit stop start at times, but it should be lasting a lot longer.

It is due a service in a week's time. I've had the car back to the garage on numerous occasions but they can't find a fault

Re: Fiat Punto

49L is the tank capacity, supposed to be 57 MPG but we'll take that with a pinch of salt.

So 49litres is roughly 10 gallons so if we say 50 MPG that would get you 500 miles say minus 50 miles for stop start stuff gives you 450 miles.

70 out not too huge an amount, if it's been a while since servicing it could be beneficial to get a service, but it depends on your driving style too, you'll likely only get 380 if your doing 80mph plus on the motorway all the time.

Sounds like there could be something wrong, it probably just needs a good service. My JTD (that's been remapped) gets 55-63mpg in normal driving. I did a long motorway journey today mostly averaging 90+mph (did a bit of stop start driving as well during rush hour on the motorway) and it went down to 53mpg. (y)

Check for diesel leaks. Especially around the diesel filter and the common rail. I had a leak at one of my injectors and i noticed similar results to you. Didnt show up any fault lights and service etc didnt change anything. Worth a try!
