Technical Fiat Punto 1999 - Auto gear sticks

Hello All,

Any help and direction will be of great assistance.

My aunts Fiat Punto 1999 sometimes get stuck in a gear particularly when moving from (P) Park to (R) Reverse or (D) Drive to (R) Reverse. The gear changes over quite smoothly and easily once in gear so I thought the gear box must be ok. Recently she said the car shudders whenever she is slowing down to a stop.

Though we tried checking with a local garage who advised that the Fiat Punto automatics always get stuck in gears I find that hard to believe and we now have the shudders so my aunt won't drive the car.

Has any one experienced similar issues? The car is a 1.2 engine, automatic.

they always do it when the powder clutch starts to die

Is the powder clutch difficult / expensive to replace. My car does exactly this. Thanks.

1999 Fiat punto sx 60 selecta 1.2 automatic

Hi my 1999 Fiat punto sx 60 selecta 1.2 automatic is stuck in (N) neutral when engines turned off it goes in to (L) and (D) but not (R) or (P) when engines starts turned on the gear stick wont move at all Stuck in (N) i try put it in (D) and it just makes a loud screaming noise so cant move gearstick drive it or any thing can any one help please thank you.. lee
