Technical Fiat panda EPS motor

Hi there, can find eps motor for 2011 panda and wondered if pantos steering column and motor be compatible
Cheers
Power steering column are programed specifically to the car, wheel base, weight and so on, I have never tried so can't be 100% but I doubt a Punto would work

Very rare you need any parts

But worst case would be a replacement torque sensor,

If you just need the motor, your looking for, look on the label, any with the same part number should fit, the delphi system was fitted to lots of different vehicles, never known a motor fail yet

Hi there, sorry about grammar in last post at least ye got the jist. So months later...second hand part sent from Uk doesn't fit (although promised would)so sent whole unit to ECU n unrepairable. Help. Can't find part here in Ireland. Can't afford another car.As I asked before would a Punto have same eps motor and would it fit ?

So

What panda is it?

Bound to be differences over @10 years of production and at least 3 engine flavours

Pretty sure some of Europe didn't even get PAS it was all manual like the cinq and old panda

Have you researched the actual units?

Maybe it's nearer to the Seicento than the panda?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. It's a 2011 fiat panda hatchback, the eps motor has failed and cannot be repaired. I am having alot of trouble getting second hand parts in Ireland

How was the faulty motor dignosed?

It would be very unusual for the motor in the ESP to fail.

Is it randomly going heavy

You need the correct ESP for the model of car,

Fiat models that have 2 or 4 door versions, you can not even swap a 2 door EPS into a 4 door one

Hi I sent to you Uk and tested by ECU, said software and hardware failure n unrepairable

I think so, power steering went intermittently

When working the steering didn't feel different feel different between turn left or right

It didn't fail only on full lock in one direction

There wasn't any shacking of the steering wheel when the car is stationary

It was that the steering went heavy intermittently possibly with the red light coming on, is this correct?

Exactly all of above

Exactly all of above
Dam

software and hardware failure sound like poo to me, a firm that specialises in this type of repair should be able to reload any firmware it likes and replace any faulty or broken parts. The column is modular.

It's almost certain there wasn't anything wrong originally with the EPS

The EPS switches off randomly to save battery when an issue is detected with its supply

Or when the torque sensor can not make sense of the values because it's reference voltages are fluctuating

They can be tricky to fix as there isn't one fix all

Battery (most common, and can test fine)

Earth lead going to the top of the battery earth terminal

Corrosion on the fuse contacts (unlikely)

Altinator
Altinator wiring
Torque sensor

And so on

I have never seen or heard of these later delphi units being beyond economical repair (BER)

Thanks very much most helpful , mechanic gonna check, is the motor just calibrated to a fiat panda and not specific

There's at least 3 different firmware versions for the panda 169

1.1 and 1.2
1.1 and 1.2 with ASR
100HP

Only the correct column will work as far as I know, I haven't tried fitting a wrong column myself

The only calibration a general mechanic will be able to preform is the straight ahead position, they will not be able to change the firmware.

Punto Grande (both types)
2012 onwards
500

All use a completely different colmns
