Technical Fiat Mk 1 Gearbox

I have a automatic 1.2 punto Mk1 which has had nothing but gearbox problems so i have decided to change the car to a manual gearbox, can anyone tell me if the 1.1 and 1.2 Mk1 punto's have the same gearbox and if the 8v and 16v gearboxes are the same. I am doing this conversion as the rest of the car is immaculate and not long been mot'd.

IIRC, the MK1 1.1 box is different... the 1.2 8v and 16v boxes are the same (thats the one your probably best off with.)
