Hi all recently downloaded the free version of the ecu scan to use on my 04 plate stilo jtd having problems connecting the ecu VAG KKL lead to read the faults. The red l.e.d light is on when connected but software unable to read ecu saying wrong port please check checked the settings everything on correct ports unable to link to ecu any advice please :bang:

Tell FiatECUScan to search for your cable. If it doesn't find it and tell you its configured properly you probably don't have the correct drivers installed so your PC can't allocate your cable a communication port.

I'm sure ELM and VAG use the same virtual port drivers so have a read of this, there are drivers attached to the first post.

1. Download the correct one for your version of Windows.
2. Unzip(give WinRAR a try http://rarlab.com/download.htm)
3. Install
4. Reboot your PC and try connecting again.

Hope that helps.

Edit.
I've just attached a usefull little "Windows Gadget" to this post. It allows you to monitor what port is being used when you plug in your cable, works with USB and Blutooth versions.

1. Unzip(give WinRAR a try http://rarlab.com/download.htm)
2. Install

it seems like the FES port is not selected on the number that your cable has attached by windows.
So you must find in Windows the port attached to that cable and from FES in Settings change the port (must be the same number as Windows assingned to cable)

By asking FES(v3.3) to search for the cable it automatically searches all active ports, tests and configures the connection if an iterface is found. But depending on the OS he's using he may have to reduce the ports latency to its lowest setting manually.
