Hi All,

I'm hoping that I'm not the only control freak that would like to know when the ECU initiates a DPF regeneration / burn routine on my Fiat Ducato 130bhp Multijet (2014) Euro 5 engine.

I'm running the Torque app, with OBD2 Wifi adapter, but the only available control panel values aren't really of any help. It can monitor the EGR position, but the other important values I need are Throttle plate, Cat or DPF temp and the Torque app doesn't have these available with this van.

Has anyone else managed to infer when a regeneration of the DPF filter is happening?

Does anyone know of another hardware / software package that will be able to read the signals I need?

The reason for wanting to see what's going on with the DPF regenerations is so I can prevent aborted sequences by continuing to drive until it's completed.

I can do this with my Shogun with no problem as I'm able to read more values that are of use.

Thanks very much for any help you guys can give.

Hi graham, good idea to find out so you don't abort accidentally, when the dpf regeneration starts the dpf warning light will illuminate, alot of people see this and switch the engine off thinking it's a fault, thus causing aborted regeneration, I work for main dealer fiat and as far as I know only the fiat diagnostic computer can tell you absolutely everything, dpf temp, resistance to flow, dpf pressure, last regeneration info Inc date and mileage and the dpf state.

when the dpf regeneration starts the dpf warning light will illuminate, .

Thanks.

I was under the impression that the dpf light only illuminates if previous 'unseen to the driver' attempts have failed and the filter has filled to a level that has triggered a high differential pressure across the filter?

Obviously the engine ecu monitors the resistance to flow, the higher the resistance the more blocked it is, also monitors the pressure witch is the same principles, the light comes on when it regens, however if you use the vehicle for long distance journeys it won't build up carbon in the filter so it won't need to re-gen
