Fiat 500 replacement radio

Morning folks, new member to the forum but an avid browser.

I've got my first question. As the title says, it's regarding a replacement head unit in a fiat 500.

I've installed a new head unit and have ran the switched live from the handbrake switch underneath the hand brake cover. What I have now is that the radio will only work with the handbrake switch disconnected.

Also the radio doesn't switch off when locking the car like the standard manufacturers radio does.

How do I resolve these issues?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why you connected it to the handbrake switch

I'd connect it to a propper switched feed, either the ignition barrel, or aux socket

I thought it would be an easy switched live to access.

How do I remove the 12v socket to access connections to obtain source from there?

I thought it would be an easy switched live to access.

Its not necessarily a switched live though, its a signal feed.

Not sure how to get behind the aux power socket on the 500 unfortunately.
