Technical Fiat 500 fuel cut off switch location ?

Hi guys just bought a damaged fiat 500!!

The fuel cut off has klicked in..
Had a good look around and i cant see a reset switch so im guessing its built into the airbag modual?? is there any way of getting it running so i can move it around untill i get a new modual?

Should just be a switch that needs pushing.

Try under front seats, or at the bottom of either 'A' pillar sort of in the foot well.

I'm asusming you've not got a hand book then.

Yep, it's all done by the airbag ECU and sent to the required systems via the CAN network. There is a manual procedure for resetting it, but I'll have to find it in the Technical manuals- it might be noted in the owner's manual, although for safety reasons it may state the procedure must be performed by a Dealer after all safety checks have been carried out first.

Have the airbags/pretensioners gone off? If the impact was fairly minor the airbag ECU can simply be reset upto a couple of times depending on what has fired. You'd need to go to a Dealer to reset it though.

The insructions are in the drivers hand book you reset it by operating the indicator stalk and ignition switch ,I don't have the book to hand just now
I'll post it up tomorrow or if your in a hurry there's a link to download
the hand book it's very usefull to have .

Hi did you managed to reset fuel cut off for your fiat 500?
I got the same problem I tried with right left indicators like it says in manual book but its not worked for me. When i turn the key to ignition ( Mar) the right indicator flshing on dash and when l turn left or right again whey not flashing even outside on a car as well.
Do enybody knows whats the problem ? Maybe i need to change the airbags or ECU first? Any sugestions?

I've never had to reset the system myself so I can't confirm or deny that what you're getting is normal, but if the front airbags have fired, the error cannot be deleted from the airbag ECU and it will require replacement.

Hi the pretensioners gone of and the front airbags. Is it only after reseting airbag ECU l will reset the fuel system cut of? Becouse one company reseted the ECU for my but l cant start the car anyway and the mesage still on ( fuel system cut of). l was told it could be with engine ECU and l need to reset it to sort out this problem. Is it true? Or maybe they reseted the airbag ECU vrong?

I've just been in the same position and managed to work it out -

once you have the airbag module reset you will find that when the ignition is is the MAR position ... the right hand indcator will be flashing

push indicator stalk up till the right hand indicator stops and the left one starts flashing .. push down to left until the right hand starts flashing again ---- it's usually after 3 or 4 seconds......follow with up again ..... so on an so on as described above ... both indicator lights will flash together at the end - turn key off.

you will hear a clunck/click - this is the fuel solenoid operating at some point

All sorted !!

you're probably not giving enough time between left / right signals ..... my car had been in a heavy frontal and the ECU hasn't needed to be touched

Just to confirm this works and you don't have to sort airbags out to get engine running. Just follow the procedure listed above...

Over the moon got it running now just got to fix it

I have a crashed 500 and can't get the ign lights to come on to reset the fule thing.
radio works lights come on and the flasheres work all around but no ing light and no indicators . checked all feuses can not find anything wrong can it be the ECU?
